Ashton Grange Nursing Home in Horsham has recently introduced the Magic Table. This device called 'Tovertafel' (dutch for "Magic Table"), is a combination of a projector and an infrared sensor which allows people living with dementia and learning difficulties to be motivated and reduce apathy. The 'Tovertafel" interactive light game, projects simple games onto a table top and the infrared sensors to detect the movement of people's arms and hands. Residents use their arms and hands to play these games. The benefits of these games is to fight apathy, stimulate the mind, use your muscles and joints, increase social engagement and overall contribute to the wellbeing of resident.
